The exhibition acquaints with the paintings by the oldest artist from the town of Vologda who this year celebrates his 90th birth anniversary. Combining in his creative oeuvre the expressiveness of the French Postimpressionism and rich decorative brightness of the Russian Folk art Korbakov creates the unique world of images that are fulfilled with specific author’s vision based on the emancipated fantasy and free attitude to traditional expressive means, on the combination of real and imaginary, exalted and humorous in a space of canvas. The exposition will include the great number of eccentric self-portraits, portraits of the master’s contemporaries, still lifes, city and industrial landscapes and thematic canvases that were created mainly during last two decades and in the 1950’s – 1980’s. The works by the artists are stored and always on the show in the filial of the Vologda Regional Picture Gallery – The Museum and Art Center of Vladimir Korbakov, the People’s artist of Russia.
