The exhibition presents the creative oeuvre of contemporary Petersburg artist who since 1960's was the outstanding representative of the Leningrad Non-Conformism. The exposition will bring together about 90 paintings and graphic works created by Yuri Kryakvin in different years since his early works. The significant influence on the Kryakvin's art had the expressive means of Russian and foreign Avant-garde of the beginning of the 20th century, first of all of kubo-futurism, that reveals themselves in the plastic decision of compositions that are linked with the theme of music, and also in his portraits and original genre improvisations devoted to the wide circle of everyday life.

The special section of exhibition is presented by the works of 1972-1984, that are devoted to the Valaam island and became one of most consistent phenomenon of the dissidents' art practice of this time. Also there are presented the objects in author's technique: a puppet and masks created on the motifs of literature works by Nikolai Golol and Fyodor Dostoevsky.
