Engraving had the important role in the Russian art until the beginning of the 20th century, when the Russian society had the requirements in the printed copies from different originals of images. But the history of the development of engraving on metal from the moment of its appearance in Russian art till nowadays is less known to the viewers. The exhibition for the first time presents so widely and fully this view of art on the example of engravings of the 17-19th centuries from the collection of the Russian Museum. Also there are presented the brass plates and instruments that were used by artists during the process of creation of engravings.
