Viktor POPOV

21 December 2005 - 24 January 2006
Marble Palace

This is the first ever one-man show of Victor Popov in the Russian Museum. The oeuvre of the artist is based on modernistic tendencies of European art and Russian Suprematism and Constructivism. The experience of practical work with wood and former membership in the Leningrad group of Surrealists have formed the plastic language of Victor Popov's sculptures. The exhibition comprised works characterising the main tendencies in his oeuvre: non-objective spatial objects and assemblages with 'found objects'. Victor Popov contributed to the exhibition organised by the Russian Museum: Abstraction in Russia: XX Century.
