The Russian Avant-Garde: Personality and School
The compilation is based on materials of a conference of the same title, held in the Russian museum in 2001 in the context of "Kasimir Malevich in the Russian Museum" and "In Malevich's Circle: Confederates, Students, Followers in Russia 1920s-50s" exhibitions. The compilation contains articles on the Russian avant-garde written by best Russian, French, British, American, Latvian, and Byelorussian specialists. The articles are devoted to life and oeuvre of Kasimir Malevich and artists of his circle. The problem, stated in the title, is investigated by the example of oeuvre of other artists - Pavel Filonov, Yudel Pen, etc.
