New multi-media exhibitions will open in the Western Pavilion (Guardhouse) of St Michael's (Engineers) Castle in the end of 2009. Museum Multi-Media Center will be the «entrance» to the world of the Russian Museum — the virtual world based on the richest collection of the Russian Museum and modern computer technologies.
The main idea of the project is popular interactive demonstration (with the use of modern technologies) of a museum, which is impossible to see in the Russian Museum Palace Complex. The programme will enable viewers to reveal unknown aspects of the museum activity and artistic creativity, temporary become a museum keeper, restorer, exhibition maker and get new impressions on the Museum multi-media attractions, simulating flights over the city, make a tour of a virtual painting and historical reconstructions of palaces and museum interiors.
