"Rebirth". The Russian Museum Palaces and Gardens

THE MIKHAILOVSKY PALACE

For the period from 1991 to 1998:
There were restored 40 exposition halls, entrance halls and parade vestibule with the total area 5 930 sq. m., there was carried out restoration of rafter system of the Mikhailovsky Palace and Rossi Wing including replacement of the roof costing
Cost of the works:    - $ 25 300 000.


To 2003:
Reconstruction, restoration of exposition halls, fund rooms (including replacement of engineering nets), court d'honeur, cast-iron fence, restoration of the Mikhailovsky Gardens including mounting of the 30 bronze sculptures, equipping "Russian Treasury" golden chamber, reconstruction of 8 lanterns in the Benois Wing.
Cost of the works:   - $ 23 100 000


To 2008:
Making overhead cover in internal yards, restoration of the private chapel, equipping the porcelain and glass open funds, the Benois Wing facades restoration, building underground vestibule under the court d'honeuritting out exposition and fund rooms with artificial microclimate maintenance system.
Cost of the works  - $ 62 500 000


Total cost of the works to 2008 - $ 85 600 000

RECONSTRUCTION OF THE CENTRAL COURTYARD

It is necessary to reconstruct the central courtyard for completing works on the main complex.

In present we carry out the works on restoration the Milhailovsky Palace cast-iron fence including setting new fundament from monolith ferro-concrete.

Cost of the restoration works according to approved estimate - $ 1 666 000


We have fulfilled the following works:
setting part of the monolith fundament
restoration of 14 lattice links.

"Lenprojecttechnology" and "Dortechnology" institutes have fulfilled the project on the central courtyard (court d'honeur) restoration including earth lowering to itshistorical level and replacement of engineering nets.


Cost of the court d'honeur reconstruction including setting up engineering nets and substitution asphalt covering for granite slabs - $ 2 500 000,

Paving with granite slabs and cobble-stones:
paving area 3 931 sq.m
materials' cost - $ 1 302 147
Cost of the works - $ 606 868


Lawn setting:
lawn area 2 899 sq.m
Cost of the works - $ 69 445


Taking out ground from all the court d'honeur square with base setting:
territory area 7 066 sq.m

THE MARBLE PALACE

For the period from 1991 to 1998:
There were restored 34 halls with the total square 1730 sq. m costing $ 6 620 000.


To 2003:
Restoration of parade halls and dolomite vases mounting on the palace parapet (86 pieces), two cast-iron fences restoration as well as restoration of the garden and supply with gas of middle pressure.
Cost of the works - $ 5 150 000


To 2008:
Facades' restoration, hydroisolation of the ground floor, restoration of the cast-iron fence from the side of Millionnaya street and the Palace Embankment.
Completing restoration works on the first floor parade halls and Konstantin Romanov's chambers.
Cost of the works - $ 9 000 000
Total cost of the works to 2008 - $ 14 150 000

THE STROGANOV PALACE

For the period from 1991 to 1998:
There were restored enfilades from the ground floor 13 halls along the River Moika Embankment and the Nevsky Prospect and parade halls of the first floor with the total area 1138 sq. m. costing - $ 4 900 000


To 2003:
Restoration of parade interiors with the area 3 295 sq. m, the roof reconstruction with the area 3 966 sq. m, restoration of the facade with the area 5 114 sq. m.
Cost of the works - $ 7 100 000


To 2008:
Reconstruction of the entrance group from the house No 19 on the Nevsky Prospect side, restoration of the Rastrelli Vestibule, restoration of the 2nd floor halls, reconstruuction of the engineering nets (including conditioning), setting of the external hydroisolation of the yard.
Cost of the works - $ 15 500 000
Total cost of the works - $ 22 600 000

THE MICHAEL'S (ENGINEERS') CASTLE

For the period from 1991 to 1998:
There were restored enfilades from 54 parade halls with the total area 1 702 sq. m., Archangel Michael's Church and church granite porch costing - $ 7 800 000


To 2003:
Reconstruction and restoration of the parade halls, roof replacement and repairs of the heating system, reconstruction of the spire including copper cover and gilding, restoration of the facades, recreation of fortification historical complex.
Total cost of the works - $ 17 900 000


To 2008:
Reconstruction of the courtyard internal part, fundaments' hydroisolation (internal and external), completing parade halls' restoration as well as restoration and equipping the museum library, restoration and reconstruction of the Engravings and Drawings funds including restoration workshop and archives, reconstruction and equipping of the Frames' fund, completing reconstruction of the heating system, reconstruction and restoration of the Corps de Guards buildings.
Total cost - $ 28 000 000
Total cost of the works - $ 45 900 000

THE RUSSIAN MUSEUM GARDENS

Goal: to open up new and unusual for the museum spaces and to create landscape services of the museum.

Restoration and museumfication of the Russian Museum gardens will attach importance to its buildings - monuments as elements of volume and space composition of the city historical center. In limits of the created by the museum reserved zone we planned organization of summer cafes, prefabricated grounds for mass cultural and entertainment arrangements, temporary exhibitions, souvenir and information stands that will throw light on exposition and exhibition activity of the museum.
