Lecture and concert complex

Permanent and temporary lecture and concert grounds in the museum:

Mikhailovsky Palace, Benois Wing

  • the Russian Museum Lecture-Hall, the former Emperors' Theater Hall, the Michael's Castle Church

    This project is meant to present the Russian Museum collection in unity with sacred, secular and folk music of the 12th - 20th centuries. Project realization will favor attracting broad visitors' circle and creating special harmonic atmosphere in the museum halls.

    The project envisages:

    • Rebirth of musical traditions connected with the Mikhailovsky Palace history and the Russian Musical Society activity that was founded under the patronage of the Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna;
    • Realization of concerts programs with participation of talented performers of classical music both from Russia and abroad, leading musical and theatrical collectives, new names opening that will cause receiving of means on the museum palaces' restoration;
    • Continuing of conducting International Musical Festivals tradition in the Mikhailovsky gardens, acquaintance with original works of contemporary musicians and composers that will allow to include the garden territory in the city active life;
    • Issue of CDs series and video films series: "Russian music in the Russian Museum".

     

    After completing the Large (Gothic) Hall restoration in the Marble Palace we plan to hold there exhibitions, concerts, festivals, lectures' cycles, solemn receptions and theater performances.

    3. Equipment for the Winter Garden

    3.2.Planting of greenery to the garden, works on planting trees and gardens - $ 10 000

    It is necessary to create "Concert programs direction" for practical realization of the project

    Service rooms for direction workers (telephone-fax, computer)

    Information and publishing activity (issue of advertising booklets, concert programs, season tickets, articles and posters - $ 2 000 (annually)

    Equipment for temporary concert grounds in the museum palaces (podiums, lighting apparatus, microphones etc.) - $ 5 000

    Chairs for concert audience (200 pieces) - $ 4 000

    Total sum - $ 11 000

    Computer technologies of the Lecture and Concert Complex

    Aim of the project is to improve education, cultural and enlightening activity of the Lecture and concert complex by using up-to-date computer technologies.

    Multimedia computer is the most powerful and universal mean of presentation that combines abilities of slide projector, audio and video recorders. Up-to-date computer programs allow giving lecture hall visitors the qualified reproduction graphics, text reference information that was prepared by leading specialists and art historians, video fragments and musical accompaniment.

    Using of multimedia computer permits side by side with materials from the existing lecture courses using of supplementary information sources distributed on CD-ROM.

    For the last years the State Russian Museum workers in cooperation with specialists in computer technology field have been working out the projects on the multimedia technology base. In particular to the State Russian Museum centenary in cooperation with "Mart-multimedia" computer studio there have been created a computer film devoted to the jubilee, as well as information stands that introduce the museum history, its palaces, exposition and temporary exhibition. For the first time these projects were presented to the museum visitors on March 21 1998 and aroused a great interest.

    We can expect that using of multimedia projects creating experience will raise effectiveness of the Russian Museum educational, cultural and enlightening activity.

    Equipment set for the Lecture and Concert Complex includes multimedia computer and projector for computer programs and video films demonstration.

    Cost of the equipment set with projecting monitor 29" (for auditorium of 40-50) is $ 8 000.

    Cost of the equipment set with projecting monitors higher than 30" (for auditorium more than 50) is $ 50 000 (depending on monitor's sizes).

    On the first stage could be used existing multimedia projects worked out in the State Russian Museum as well as purchased CD-ROM devoted to historical, cultural and art thematic.

    Cost of working out new multimedia program on 25-30 minutes on the base of existing lecture course including graphic and text material, dictor's commentary, musical accompaniment, animation, video fragments will make up $ 6 000.

    Programs' complex could be permanently enlarged and renewed as soon as financial resources will be available, but with investing of $ 15 000 using of computer technologies will make considerable effect.
