The creation of a new entrance complex will restore the lost artistic characteristics of the Mikhailovsky Palace by restoring the original conditions for its aesthetic perception. This will enhance the functional structure of the museum complex and clear the ground floor of the Mikhailovsky Palace for the possible housing of an exhibition of Old Russian art.

One of the versions of the project addresses possibility of entering the underground complex straight from the Arts Square. This route will take visitors down staircases situated in the square and then along a tunnel running beneath the Inzhenernaya Street.

Size of the underground vestibule: 6 500 sq. m.

The underground area can be used to accommodate a video hall, computer games hall, a lecture and concert hall with 300 seats and a children lecture hall with 100 seats, kiosks, a restaurant for 200 visitors and two cafes for 50 visitors each. Part of the premises may also be let out.

Cost of the project: $ 25 000 000
