Brief Characteristics of the Object

The Stroganov Palace is the only monument of the mid-18th century architecture on the central avenue of the city. It was handed over to the State Russian Museum in 1991. On the completion of restoration the permanent exposition of Russian art from the Russian Museum collection will be opened in its halls.

After the apartment house No 19 on the Nevsky prospect that originally belonged to the Stroganov family, was given to the museum it became possible to extend the exhibition halls and office rooms of the Stroganov Palace. Some rooms in the house No 19 (area - 1700 square metres) could be used for commercial aims.
