The functioning of the palaces of the State Russian Museum is not possible without constant provision of temperature and humidity control in the storage rooms and the exhibition halls. For the maintenance of these palaces throughout the year it is necessary to assemble automated gas boiler rooms in all of them.

The Stroganov Palace and St. Michael's (Engineers') Castle have gas-providing installations.

The inner yard of the Marble Palace has a boiler room. An estimate has already been drawn on the project of a gas-pipe of medium pressure.

The project of providing the Marble Palace with gas has been worked out by "Lengiproingproject" Institute. The length of the pipe-line is 467 metres.

The cost of gas-pipe laying with current rearrangement of engineering network and road-building is $ 400 000.
