The exhibition is devoted to the 80th anniversary of the birth of Zurab Tsereteli,
the People’s artist of Russia and Georgia, who holds the office of President of
the Russian Academy of Arts. The bright and temperamental canvases express the
vital energy of this artist and his fantasy that gives an opportunity to combine real
and imaginative, present and past. In works by Tsereteli one can see the memories
of his native Georgia, its traditions and people which are depicted with his inherent
sense of humor and habit of observation. Many of these works are united in large
series (“Old Tiflis”, “Circus”, “Croatia” and the others) that presents the circle of
Tsereteli’s favorite motifs and subjects in painting. The wide nature of Tsereteli,
his passionate temper and affection to the bright side of life find reflection in his
artistic works. The exposition brings together his paintings of different years,
sculptures and numerous draw created by the master during the 1990–2000's that
reveals the uneasy and intricate way of embodiment of the author’s conception in
different views and genres of art.
