The Famous and Unknown Karl Brullov exhibition presents the graphic works by the artist from the collection of the Russian Museum and the Closed-end Mutual Investment Fund of Art Objects “Atlanta art”. The exposition includes about 70 drawings and water colors by Karl Brullov that he created during his first trip to Italy at the end of the 1820’s-1830’s. Alongside with well-known Italian genres by Brullov such as On the Confession(1827-1830, the Russian Museum), Dream of Grandmother and Granddaughter (1829, the Russian Museum), Italian Family (1831, the Russian Museum) and the other water colors the exposition includes the little-known Italian Models in the National Clothes series (1828-1829, the Russian Museum).
For the first time in Russia there is presented the Italian Album by K.Brullov that consists of 33 drawings and water-colors including the paper with the artist's dedication to the countess Stefania Vitgenshtein. These drawings and water-colors that were created at the end of the 1820’s – beginning of the 1830’s may be regarded as another evidence of the artist’s passion for the Italian genre motifs and his close and attentive study of nature. In 1993 the Italian Album by K.Brullov was bought by the Stolichniy Bank in England from Alexander Sain-Vitgenshtein-Sain. Since 2010 this album belongs to the Closed-end Mutual Investment Fund of Art Objects “Atlanta art”.
The exhibition is supported by the Closed-end Mutual Investment Fund of Art Objects “Atlanta art”
