The exhibition is dedicated to the centenary of the triumphal "Russian
Ballet Seasons" in Paris.
It tells about the start of the creative activity of the great impresario
Sergei Diaghilev, his surrounding at the end of the XIX - beginning of the XX
century. Exposition is divided into 5 parts and presents Diaghilev as the
impresario of the exhibitions, art critic, historian of art and the editor of
the "The World of Art" magazine. The fragments of the exhibitions, that he
organized will be reconstructed in the Russian museum halls: the parts of the
exhibition of the Russian and Finish painters, that was held in 1898 in the Baron's A. L.
Shtiglic' Museum of the School of Technical Drawing, the parts of the art and
historical ( "Tavrichesky" ) exhibition of the Russian portraits in 1905 and
the parts of the first international project by Diaghilev that was the "Two
Centuries of the Russian Painting and Sculpture" exhibition in the Autumn Salon
in Paris in 1906. The audience will have the opportunity to see for the first
time the "Elisium" theater curtain by
Leo Bakst, that was created for the Komissarzhevsky Dramatic Theater.
The works from the collections of the Russian
Museum, Tretyakov Gallery and the Scientific-Research
Museum of the Russian Academy
of Arts are presented at the exhibition.
