The exhibition is dedicated to the 250 anniversary of the painter. The religious paintings by Vladimir Borovikovsky from the collections of the Russian Museum, Tretyakov gallery, Tver Art gallery, The State Historical Museum of Religion and Sergiev Posad State History and Art Museum and Reserve are shown in full for the first time. There are presented about 50 paintings and 5 drawings.

In the collection of the Russian museum there are more then 70 paintings. The most part of his portraits is presented in the permanent exhibition. That?s why the Russian Museum shows Borovikovsky?s paintings on thereligious topics, that are a little known part of his oeuvre. The icon-painting «Crucifixion», that was bought by the Russian Ministry of Culture for the Russian Museum in 2008 from the private collector, is exposed for the first time as the part of the collection of the Russian Museum. The exhibition is amplified by chapel and clerical.
