The exhibition presents 14 paintings of 1960s and 1980s from the collection of the Russian Museum and one work from the collection of the artist’s family (“Portrait of the Wife” 1964). This is the tribute to the memory of Boris Shamanov, who was the teacher, people’s artist of Russian Federation. He belonged to the ‘men of the sixties’ generation. The artworks that are presented on the exhibition reflect lyrical and romantic direction in the artist’s creative oeuvre. He took up fruitful traditions of national artistic culture – from Old Russia to Aleksey Venetsianov, Victor Borisov-Musatov and Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin. |
