This is the first in Russia personal exhibition of the young artist Alexandr Timofeev, who lives in Germany now. The exhibition contains 30 artworks by the artist that were created in the last 5 years. The basis of the exhibition is the Requiem polyptych that consists of 12 paintings.

Joining his Russian and German art experience, Alexandr Timofeev works in illusory realistic manner. The distinguishing features of the artist’s works are somber, tragic psychologism. They are dedicated to somber wrong side of human relations, “secret room” of a soul, where personages of his paintings perform versions of perpetual scenarios of love and death. In its stylistic and thematic unity the exhibition could be perceived as one composition that consists of many parties.

Alexandr Timofeev was born in 1971 in Leningrad, in the artists’ family. He studied in Boris Ioganson St. Petersburg State Academy Art Lyceum, later – in the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He was also a pupil by Johannes Grützke in the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg. From 1994 he lives and works chiefly in Germany. From 1996 the artist carries on an energetic exhibition activity.
