St Michael's (Engineers) Castle

From September 20 to October 22 the rooms of the St Michael's (Engineers) Castle of the State Russian Museum will hold the exhibition of paintings by Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna, the younger daughter of Emperor Alexander III and Empress Marie Fyodorovna, sister of Nicholas II. The exhibition will present more than 200 watercolours and other artworks from the artistic and cultural heritage of Grand Duchess. The artworks collected in different countries (Canada, the USA, France, Denmark and others) are kindly lent for the exhibition by Olga Kulikovsky-Romanoff, chairman of the Russian Relief Programme Memorial Fund, daughter-in-law of Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna. The exhibits illustrate the life and oeuvre of Grand Duchess, inviting the visitors of the exhibition to plunge into historic space and time. Profound feelings, observations and experience are reproduced against the background of cultural and natural peculiarities of three countries - Russia, Denmark and Canada, where the family of Grand Duchess used to live. The Majestic Artist has been exhibited in Washington (2001), Moscow (2002), Ekaterinburg (2004), St Petersburg and Moscow (2005), Tyumen and Surgut (2006), Moscow (the Tretyakov Gallery, 2007) and received rapturous reviews everywhere. The exhibition is organized by Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna Memorial Fund with the support from the sponsors. We invite the citizens and guests of St Petersburg to acquaint with the unique artistic world of one of the worthiest representatives of the Russian Imperial family - Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna.
