Tatiana Mavrina

29 December 2004 - 21 February 2005
The Benois Wing

This exhibition introduces the oeuvre of well-known Russian artist Tatiana Mavrina (1902-1996) - a master of graphic art and book illustrations and a connoisseur of Russian folk art. The exhibition includes the artist's early sketches of the late 1920s, self-portraits, still-lifes and nudes of the 1930s, Moscow landscapes of the 1940s, post-war gouaches depicting old Russian towns and works of the 1980s, including illustrations for classical and children's literature. All these works represent Tatiana Mavrina's oeuvre in all its diversity. Among other exhibits showcased are works of Old Russian art from the artist's own collection, part of which she gave to the museum in 1996, shortly before her death.
