This exhibition is a retrospective of Ekatherina Savtchenko's oeuvre for the sixteen-year period from 1989 to 2004. The show comprises some seventy works from private European and American collections, including thirty works of painting, seven sculptures, thirty photographs and two video installations. Ekatherina Savtchenko creates in such forms of art as painting, photo-based art, performance and video art. For more than a decade, she has actively participated in the international art process, holding exhibitions in various museums and galleries. The artist has her own fans, public and collectors.
Ekatherina Savtchenko was born in St Petersburg. She graduated from a children's school of art with a diploma for best student. After studying at the Faculty of Mathematics of Leningrad University and the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, she moved to Germany. She trained under A. R. Penck at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf for four years. Ekatherina Savtchenko lives and works in Düsseldorf.
