V.Pushnizkiy was born in 1967. He lives and works in St.Petersburg. The artist is more known in the countries of Europe, where his several personal exhibitions were held and where a retrospective review is being prepared now.
He belongs to the generation of painters who first completed academic education, then learned a lesson of avant-garde trends of the second half of XX c., and as a result, returne to traditional values but in a new 'postmedium' interpretation.
The project 'INTROSPECTION' combined several series created by V.Pushnizkiy during the previous two years: Bread and circuses, Light, Boxes of Dreams. In these series photography takes the part of a mediator among techniques used by the author (painting, graphics, work with objects, video-, photo-, and digital technologies). Photography became a basis for installation Boxes of dreams, and for pictorial and graphical series.
