Jorg Immendorff

29 November 2001 - 04 February 2002
Marble Palace

The exhibition comprises painterly work and sculpture of 1981-2000 introducing the Russian public into the creative art of one of the most prominent German artists of our time. The art of Jörg Immendorff is highly historical, marked with acute perception of social problems. After the unification of Germany his first large ?Café Germany¦ cycle of paintings turned out to be almost prophetic. The list of his one-man exhibitions is constantly growing. Jörg Immendorff is a prolific artist who has enjoyed international fame since 1980s. The artist held successful exhibitions in Western and Eastern Europe, North and South America, New Zealand, Korea, Taiwan and China. This is the first ever exhibition of the artist in Russia. The Ludwig Museum in the Russian Museum organizes the first large one-man exhibition of Jörg Immendorff in the Marble Palace.
