A revolution in painting: Kandinsky, Malevich and the russian avant-garde

Organized with the help of the Russian Ministry of Culture, the exhibition presents 85 works of tart from thirteen museums in Russia, including thirty canvases from the Russian Museum. The broad spectrum of creative quests and innovations in early twentieth-century art can be seen in the works of Wassily Kandinsky, Kazimir Malevich, Natalia Goncharova, Mikhail Larionov, Alexander Rodchenko, Pavel Filonov and Pyotr Konchalovsky. These paintings trace the sources of their original inspiration and demonstrate the great influence that the artists exerted on their numerous followers. This is the first long-term overseas exhibition of the Russian art of the 1910s and 1920s to be organized on such an impressive scales. The show visits five different American cities.
