The publication St Petersburg. Portrait of the city and its citizens became a winner in the main nomination of the annual contest The Book of the Year. The competition was organized by the Russian Federation Ministry for Press, Broadcasting and Mass Communications Affairs in the context of XVIth Moscow International Book Exhibition and Fair. The publication was dated by the State Russian Museum and the Palace Editions publishing house to the tercentenary of St Petersburg. The book's authors will receive the Main prize, which is a jewel formed as an egg and created by Petersburg jeweller Andrei Ananov. It is made of transparent enamel, gold, and silver. It will carry a picture of the book-winner decorated with precious stones.

On 7-9 April 2003 the "Messegeland Berlin"Exhibition Center in Berlin holds the "Tercentenary of Saint Petersburg: Russia Open to the World" exhibition the historical and cultural part of which comprises the exposition from the Russian Museum.
Within the framework of the exhibition the "Russian Museum Day" is held on April 8. The multi-media presentation programme acquaints the visitors with the history of the Russian Museum, its collection, unique architectural complex and restoration and reconstruction projects. The museum presents a series of computer information packages such as "Virtual World of the Russian Museum", and "Russia", the "Thousand Years of Russian Art" virtual exhibition, video films, CD ROMs souvenirs and publications produced by the Russian Museum.
The visitors of the exhibition of the Russian Museum are offered the programme of the festival celebrations to be held in St Petersburg in the days of its 300 jubilee festivities (exhibitions, concerts and other cultural events).
