The Adventures of the Black Square

The CD is dedicated to the one of the most prominent works of the twentieth century v the Black Square.

In the history of world art, there is probably no more famous or infamous painting than Kazimir Malevich-s Black Square. No other work has led to the appearance of so many copycat works. No other painterly image enjoys an equally independent existence in culture; no other artifact is so permanently topical.

The programme includes articles by the leading art critics from the Russian Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery: I. Karasik, T. Goryacheva and E. Andreyeva and the Anthology of Selected Interpretations, which is a number of judgments about the Black Square by the artist himself, his contemporaries, Russian and foreign art critics and artists of the second half of the twentieth century. The disk includes more than 500 works of art including those by Kazimir Malevich, his contemporaries and acute artists; biographies of 163 artists.

MIKHAIL VRUBEL FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE RUSSIAN MUSEUM

The CD accompanies the exhibition, dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of Mikhail Vrubel. It comprises painting and graphic art, sculpture and objects of decorative and applied art made in the majolica technique from the collection of the State Russian Museum. The CD includes approximately 200 full-screen images with annotations on each work. The viewers get a unique opportunity to see the enlarged fragments. The alphabetic and chronological orders enable easily find a necessary artwork.

The CD contains articles on Mikhail Vrubel-s oeuvre by leading art historians of the Russian Museum. The programme enables to copy and print the texts. The chronicle of life and work of the artist is accompanied by photographs. The disc presents unique photographs of the memorial objects from the Mikhail Vrubel Foundation that inspired the master.
