The collection of the avant-garde painting and graphic art from the Russian Museum is well-known around the country and abroad. The concept of the collection was defined in the early 1920s after the Russian Museum had acquired the Petrograd Museum of Artistic Culture collection. The disk for the first time presents this collection, which formed in 1918-22 by the avant-garde artists themselves. The disk contains 250 images of the works of art with annotations, biographic material on 90 artists, cinema chronicle and video material.

The World of Art

The disk was released for the exhibition dedicated to one of the most prominent events in the Russian artistic life of the= turn of the 19th v 20th centuries v the World of Art association. It originated in Petersburg and for the first time announced itself at the ?exhibition of Russian and Finnish artists¦ in the Stieglitz Museum in 1898. 100 years after the first exhibition of the World of Art the works by their Finnish contemporaries and associates were shown in the Russian Museum along with the works by the best Russian artists.

The disk presents the works by L. Bakst, A. Benois, M. Vrubel, M. Dobuzhinsky, K. Korovin, Y. Lanceray, V. Serov, K. Somov, A. Gallen-Kallela, A. Edelfelt, M. Enkel and others.

The disk contains 400 images with annotations and biographies of the artists.

The CD, dedicated to the Play and Passion exhibition first presents over 250 images and annotations for paintings, drawings, watercolours, engravings and objects of applied art of different epochs from museums, libraries ad archives of St Petersburg.
