The State Russian Museum. Painting: Catalogue in 15 Volumes
Scientific catalogues of collection of paintings of the State Russian museum, XVIII-XX cc. is an ongoing project of 15 volumes, each of which (except the first one) shows works of art created during half a century, i.e. the first and the second halves of the XIXth and the XXth centuries. In each volume artists are presented alphabetically. By now, the following volumes have appeared. Their peculiarity is colour reproductions of every piece of art.

The ninth volume of the fifteen-volume catalogue of eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth century painting in the collection of the Russian Museum covers works painted by artists of the first half of the twentieth century whose surnames begin with the Russian letters Г, Д, Е, Ж, З, and И. The catalogue also contains short biographies of the artists and commentaries on new information and attributes. Each painting is reproduced in colour.

The second volume of the catalogue of painting addresses works by artists of the first half of the nineteenth century (1801 - 50) from Hovhannes Aivazovsky to Vasily Istomin. The catalogue is arranged by painter in alphabetical order, with all works given in chronological order. The book also contains short biographies of the artists and commentaries on new information and attributes. Each painting is reproduced in colour.

This is the first of the fifteen volumes dedicated to the collection of eighteenth to twentieth century painting in the Russian Museum. It covers all paintings by artists working in the eighteenth century (unknown artists are assigned to Vol. 4). The album includes a detailed and informative article by Grigory Goldovsky, leading expert on eighteenth century Russian art, and informative annotations on each work, including new researches and attributions. All 522 works are reproduced in colour and there is a reference section of seven indexes.This publication has texts written in two languages (English and Russian).

The book is supplemented with a list of publications from 1988 to 2001, an index of selected publications dedicated to the oeuvre of single artists, an illustrated list of exhibitions organized by the department from 1990 to 2001 and information on general programmes developed by the stuff of the department of contemporary art
