The publication accompanied the exhibition of the same name devoted to the road theme in the works of Russian artists of 19th -early 2st century. In Russia, with its vast territory and long distances, the road motif has become not only a landscape motif but also a metaphorical concept. The catalogue contains an article on the subject of the exhibition, album of reproductions, annotations, arranged in chronological order, biographies of artists and alphabetical index of painters. The book comes with a CD of Russian songs and popular romances of various years devoted to the road theme.

The publication is dedicated to the 250th anniversary of Paul I. It presents an exhibition project of contemporary photographers and artists aiming to mirror the image of the emperor Paul I by means of modern photographic art. The role of Paul I in Russian history is appreciated ambiguously. The book contains an article on the conception of the project and an album which structure corresponds to a structure of the exhibition and includes the same sections: Metaphysics, Symbolism and Mysticism, Coup d'etat and Connection of Times. Each work is accompanied by master's text containing personal attitude of the artist to a historical character. The catalogue is supplemented with biographies of the participants of the exhibition.

The publication accompanied the exhibition organized by the Russian Museum in collaboration with the Savings Bank of the Russian Federation (North West Bank). The book contains an article on the history of origin and existence of paper money in Russia, a short historical reference to the history of the Savings Bank, an annotated catalogue arranged in chronological order and album of illustrations. The publication is supplemented with biographies of persons actively contributed to the development of Russian paper standard and a list of literature.

The introductory articles are dedicated to the history of the department, conception of its work and foundation of the Ludwig Museum in the Russian Museum. The main part of the catalogue consists of essays on artists in alphabetical order. The book is supplemented with a list of publications from 1988 to 2001, an index of selected publications dedicated to the oeuvre of single artists, an illustrated list of exhibitions organised by the department from 1990 to 2001 and information on general programmes developed by the staff of the department of contemporary art.
