The Russian Museum

The book serves as an introduction to the bright and unique phenomenon in modern fine arts - paper plastics, which apart from sculptors is used by painters, graphic artists, designers and other creative professionals. The album of illustrations is preceded by three scholarly articles about peculiarities of the paper sculpture figurative language in the context of its use in the oeuvre of several Russian masters of the last third of the 20th - early 21st centuries. These are supplemented by biographies of the artists who are represented in the book.

Album of illustrations is preceded by articles, where the role of Alexander Benois di Stetto in the cultural dialogue of Russia and Europe is reflected and also his creative path and the peculiarities of embodiment of flower motif in his works of different years are investigated. This book is prepared to the 100^th anniversary of First World War - a turning point in history of Russia and other countries. Album of illustrations that includes several sections ("Paintings and Sketches", "Drawings and watercolors", "Popular prints, posters, postcards", "Book graphics", "Photographs") is preceded by two articles. The first one reflects the history of comprehension of events and heroes of war in Russia in 20^th century, the peculiarities of investigation of artistic heritage of this epoch and reflection of these events in the works of Russian artists. Another article is devoted to the Russian printed graphics that was a significant phenomenon in Russian culture. The issue is supplemented with detailed chronic of the First World War, short biographies of the artists and list of persons presented in the issue.

This book serves as an introduction to the oeuvre of a contemporary Moscow artist of the 1960s generation. The album section follows after two articles: the first one covers Myznikov's creative life and origins of artistic decisions in his works, the other one was written by the painter himself in the mid 1970s as thoughts about his oeuvre. This book is dedicated to a bright and unique phenomenon in Russian culture - collection of Vasily Kokorev (1817-1889), a top guild merchant, commerce councilor, Old Believer. The scholarly article familiarizes the reader with the history and existence of Vasily Kokorev's collection. The article discloses the place and significance of the exhibits from the collection in the Russian Museum. The book presents the Russian folk festive costume as a unique phenomenon, which reserved artistic traditions of Old Russia. Dresses from the Russian Museum collection serve as examples. The album of illustrations with annotations introducing images of folk dresses (silk, brocade sarafans, sleeveless jackets and shugais, silk headscarves, brocade and velvet kokoshniks decorated with gold threads, pearls, mother of pearl, etc.) is preceded by the scholarly article. The article familiarizes the reader with main types of women's festive costumes, peculiarities of their artistic decorations and accessories. The book is supplemented by the section about preservation and development of the costume tradition in the 20th - early 21st -century folk art and full bibliography.
