This publication dated to the Russian Museum exhibition of the same title is devoted to the history of the coronation of Paul I and Maria Fyodorovna. The ceremony took place in the Cathedral of Assumption in the Moscow Kremlin on the 5th of April 1797. The publication is also devoted to the artist Martin Ferdinand Quadal, the author of the painting, which now belongs to the Saratov State Art Museum. The articles on the artist-s oeuvre, the story of how the painting was created, and on the ceremony itself are accompanied with colour illustration v the portraits of the ceremony participants and archive documents.
